Water Supply Disruption in Skerries area 30th May

There has been a major burst on the trunk main that supplies water to the Skerries area.  Water has been turned off to facilitate repairs.  It is not known this time how long it may take to effect the repairs.  There will be further updates regarding resumption of service.

Area(s) affected: All if Skerries.

Grupa cheamara/Camera club every second Monday evening at 6.30pm – the 19ththis month. Come along to the Photography Group and learn how to take a better photo. All welcome!

Grúpa Cuilteálaithe - Quilting Club - Our Quilting group meets here every Tuesday morning from 10.30 – 12.00 and new members are always welcome. Come along and see some fantastic work and share ideas.


Club Scrabble / Scrabble Club Scrabble club for adults: Wednesdays at 6.30pm.  All are welcome, scrabble boards supplied.

Toddler time
Grúpa tuismitheorí agus páistí Parent and Toddler Group –is on every Thursday morning from 10 – 12. Plenty of books, toys and games are available in our Community Room. Drop in anytime on Thursday mornings!

Rush Art Hobby Group - Following on from the very popular art classes of late, some members of the group have started the Rush Art Hobby Group. This is an informal gathering of painting and drawing for beginners and improvers, meeting weekly for mutual encouragement. Newcomers welcome. Bring your own supplies. Thursdays 2.00pm to 4.00pm.

Come into the parlour for an evening of reminiscence!
Kenure – 700 years of history
Join us on Wednesday the 7th of June from 6pm – 7.30pm for an evening of reminiscence with local history enthusiast Niall Gossan.
Niall has put together a fabulous exhibition which celebrates the grandeur of Kenure house including rent books and photos from the estate. Many photos depict the people who worked there. Niall hopes to meet the many local people who remember Kenure.
Light refreshments provided.
The exhibition will run in the library from the 6th to the 16th of June.

Celebrate with us!

Photo competition:
Capture a cracker – send us a photo of your favourite Rush moment/memory. Photos can be from the past or present day and the winner will be announced in July. Two categories: ages 15-18 and 18+

Book character poster competition:
Children, help us to decorate the library with a fabulous poster of your favourite book character. Winners will be announced in July.


Rush Library opened 7 years ago in July - Come along and see our exhibition (June 26th – July 21st) celebrating all that happens in the library and local community, including work from groups using the library.


Summer Stars Reading Adventure:
Summer Stars is an exciting reading-based programme which is available free of charge to all children across the country.
The Summer Stars Reading Adventure will run during the summer in public libraries all over Ireland. Children are invited to register for the adventure and enjoy reading many books as part of the adventure during this time. All participants will be given a Summer Stars Reading Card to record and track their own progress. There will be rewards and incentives along the way and a
grand finale event at the end for all participants.

We will be in touch soon to announce the starting date.

Vivid Art Squad:
Exhibition of paintings/art work by local toddlers and juniors art group 19th – 24th June


The exhibition area in Rush Library is available for groups or individual artists throughout the year. If you are interested in displaying your paintings, photography or artwork, please let us know. The space is available for two weeks at a time and a charge of €10 applies per week per exhibition.
We have a room available for community use here also and would love to hear from anyone who would like to for example, set up a book club, a film club or organise a parent and toddler group. All such events in the library are free of charge and open to all.

Summer Stars is an exciting reading-based programme available free of charge to all children across the country. The Summer Stars Reading Adventure will run during the summer in public libraries all over Ireland. All participants will be given a Summer Stars Reading Card to record and track their own progress with a grand finale event at the end for everyone!

Everyone is invited to check out the Summer Stars website at www.summerstars.ie which has lots of online games and activities as well as a range of animated ebooks. There are also helpful tips for reading and recommended titles by age group for children to read. The books can then be borrowed from your local library service. And it’s all free! “Think Before you Flush” – Clean Coasts Environmental Info Session, 1 Meitheamh, 6.30in/ 1st June at 6.30pm
Clean Coasts (An Taisce) presents “Think before you flush” - a public awareness campaign to highlight issues with flushing items such as wipes and cotton buds down the toilet. These items can damage marine life and wash up on our beaches. This year they are working with nine communities around the country, including Balbriggan.
